How Sinful Are You?

Note: Please read the following post with a devilish voice. Preferably a rough, stifled and hollow one. MSA does not take any responsibility on any shortcoming that might/could/will occur to your physical and/or mental health as a result of hearing your own devilish voice. You have been warned.

Hi there...*cough* *cough*...I'm sorry it's pretty dry down here...we don't really have 4 seasons if you know what I mean?

Anyway, me and my mates have been talking bout this huge, grand party...no not Hugh Grant, people...his parties are nothing compared to this one...believe me...after all, I am Mr D, am I?

Okay listen to me people, listen to me...this party right, this party...is SO BIG that the only place we can do it is in SPACE! Can you imagine that? Space baby! How cool is that??

Hmm.Is it hot in here or is it just me?

Back to the topic people, back to the topic...this party will be held on Friday the 11th of April which is the last day of school for you guys in Macquarie before your 2 weeks break...which is superb right? So don't you dare to be nerdy and study! That's so not cool man

Anywho, did I mention where the party at? Oh yeah, I did...Sorry guys, Britney keep calling me

Though we'll do it in Space, due to the limited airspace we've managed to negotiate with the government...only handful of tickets will be made available...my hands not yours, mind you

So yeah, get your tickets now from MSA's Social Directors Daniel(0421 279 510), Diren(0430 388 321) and Sze Rhui(0433 968 187). The price is $15 presold and $20 at door. Though I like it if you pay more and show them how cool you are, I encourage you to buy the tickets earlier so that you won't get laughed at because you can't get in...wait, on second thought, that would be cool.hmm..

Check out the poster for more details people... I gotta go now, it's so not cool if people see me blogging

Your Sin-surely,
Mr D

O-week & Welcoming BBQ Reviews!

Hey ya peeps!

How’s uni treating everyone so far? Great? Not so? Well, it’s the Easter long weekend, so cheer up!

Gosh it’s been a long while since I’ve written for this blog! Thus, to make up for lost time, here’s two recaps at one go.

First up, O-Week!

This year, under U@MQ, there was a slight change in location. All booths were relocated to the lake side, on the grassy area. And of course, MSA was not to be left out of all the hype of O-Week!

So for three whole days, from the 25th to 27th February 2008, MSA had ‘booth’ (more like a table, if you ask me =p) placed in the front row (which is a good thing =D) alongside the other clubs and societies. We were there to promote our upcoming activities and let members know the benefits that MSA has to offer.

Decked out in bright orange shirts, the committee members mending the booth were pretty easy to spot. What’s more, this year, our booth had a superbly awesome banner, a mini wau for decoration (courtesy of Tourism Malaysia), colourful brochures, and of course, our beloved Malaysian flags! Plus, our IT man made a PowerPoint presentation to show our new and returning members what MSA did throughout the whole of last year. Oh yeah, we also had little origami swans to promote Malaysia Fest, which will take place later this year.

Throughout the three full days of glorious sunshine, MSA signed-up new members and welcomed back our returning members. The membership fee for this year was increased to $12, but members will get an orange MSA t-shirt. (We’ll contact you guys on how to get your t-shirts soon.) Despite the increase, at the end of O-Week, we had about over a hundred members joining MSA. (Looks like the charms and powers of persuasion of the committee members ain’t that bad eh? =p)

It was great seeing new and returning faces wanting to join MSA to be a part of this big family. Thank you so much for all your support! We hope to see you all in our upcoming activities we have lined up for this year! =)

Next, the MSA Welcoming BBQ!

The first event of 2008!

Following O-Week, to kick-start the year, the MSA Welcoming BBQ was organised to do as its name suggests – to welcome new members, and welcome back returning members.

Held at the newly-named UBar on Friday the 7th of March during lunch time, the turnout was amazing!

At 12pm, members already started streaming in. Geez you guys were so punctual! =D Keep it up! Gosh, I guess Malaysian timing doesn’t apply in Australia? Haha, or is it only the case when there’s food involved? Hmm…point to ponder =p

By 1pm plus, even more people came to UBar and a queue in front of the BBQ pit started to form. Sausages and onions were sizzling on the BBQ pit, loaves of bread and packets of chips were opened. Hungry members were munching away on their food while socialising with each other. It was definitely a great chance for the new members to meet other members and for returning members to catch up with each other after the long summer break.

At the end of it, sizzle and mingle we definitely did. It was a rather hot day, but everyone looked like they had a good time eating and meeting up with each other. Not a bad way to end the week and start off the weekend eh?

Also, thanks to the representatives from other unis that attended our BBQ!

So guys, keep a look out for upcoming activities! For those of you who missed this one, we still have loads of other stuff in store so stay tuned! We hope to see you all again in the near future!

Till next time,

Selina Tay

p/s: Happy Easter everyone! =)
