MALAYSIA FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS WANTED!

Hello there,

Be part of the annual Malaysia Fest by volunteering!

MFest is a cultural event solely organized by the non-profit Malaysian student organizations and volunteering students in Sydney celebrating the Malaysian culture. It will be held on Sunday, 27th September 2009 at Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour.

We still need student volunteers to help out on the operations of MFest before and during the event. It doesn’t matter whether you have experiences in volunteering or not – so as long as you show enthusiasm and commitment, we want YOU!

Please note that you will be required to attend a compulsory Volunteers Meet on Sunday, 20th September 2009 for training purposes.

MFest 2009 Volunteers Description

Marketing Crew
Nature:
• Promote Malaysia Fest before and during the event
• Increase public awareness of the event•
Provide relevant information about MFest to the general public
Example: pre-event advertisement on campus, parading around the city to promote the festival

Stagehands
Nature:
• Provide assistance at the stage area
• Assist in supervision and coordination on the use of performance stage and related entertainment equipments
Example: Setting up equipment, equipment transportation

Co-Events Assistant
Nature:
• Assist stall owners during for the setup of the stalls or any other assistance throughout the day Example: Setting up the stall and moving things around

Health Assistant
Nature:
• Provide basic first aid assistance when required to anyone in the event
• Provide visitors information or any other assistance regarding to the festival if required
Requirements: Completion of First Aid basic course needed
Example: Attend to minor cut injuries using supplies in the First Aid Kit

Information/Raffle Booth
Nature:
• Provide the visitors with relevant information regarding MFest, Malaysia and food stalls• Distribute program booklets and sponsor gift bags
• Assist in selling of raffle tickets or any MFest-related merchandise
• Provide emergency assistant or any other assistance if required
Example: Answer questions on the location of a particular food stall or particular type of food

Crowd Control
Nature:
• Ensure crowd do not disrupt the operation of the festival
• Ensure an orderly flow of que in food stalls area
• Ensure no trespasser or overcrowding at the VIP area or front/back of stage area
• Provide visitors information or any other assistance regarding to the festival if required
Example: Patrol the park, control backstage access, help handle any disruptions

Surveyors
Nature:
• Collect general feedback about Mfest
• Encourage the visitors to fill up a quantitative survey
• Provide visitors information or any assistance regarding to the festival if required
Example: Approach a stranger and ask them what they think of the event


All the above are form the email. Mfest is all about food, culture and people of Malaysia. Since most of you will be going there for the food, you might as well just come earlier to help out with the event. Being part of MFest is something great.
